Changing the world takes a step... or two
As the weather starts to cool down and we brace ourselves for another Gauteng winter, it’s not all bad news. July sees the arrival of Gauteng’s beloved sports event, the MTN Walk the Talk with 702 – and we looking forward to creating an even bigger league of walkers this year.
The Character Company has participated in this beloved walk event for a number of years and it’s quickly become one of our best fundraising events. We hope to meet our team target of 100 walkers this year – every walker brings us close to our dream of expanding The Character Company programme nationally, with specific focus on regions where the greatest need exists for positive male role models.
The impact of absent fathers and/or positive male role models is felt in very corner of South African society and its affects can be devastating for the child and for their communities. Whilst single mothers are doing an amazing job, they cannot replace the impact fathers and positive male role models have in the lives of their children. We work to place these key influencers into a boy’s life at an age where he is most receptive which is between 5 and 10 years old. Our MENtors work with groups of 5 boys each, aiming to inspire, guide and support each boy as they grow into young men their families and communities are proud of.
And you can do this heroic work too, so dust off your cape it’s time to change the world by joining our team of superhero walkers. You can join our league of walkers or create your own corporate team of heros, or get the whole family in on what is going to be an epic event. We are encouraging our walkers to dress as their Alter-egos and walk for a value. You have to choose one of our 5-values – Kindness, Courage, Self-Discipline, Honesty and Respect, and we gift you a t-shirt sticker you can wear on the day.
So whether you are a Black Panther, Batman or Wonder Woman, we need you! However there are only 50 000 walking numbers available and they are going fast! So its best to book your sneakers in and make sure you are part of this huge, social event.

Let us know which of our values you’ll be walking for. Once we have you registered we will send you payment instructions, once your payment has been verified with our bank. We will confirm your booking.
